The objective of this project is to create a 18”x18”x18” maximum box that contains a minimum of one drawer, one shelf, and one door. Material requirements include wood and one dissimilar material.
The idea was to design and build a personal bedside table. Materials of choice were acrylic and wood.
Through this project a challenge that was encountered was the depiction of solid layers. Due to the design, weight, and the price of acrylic, layering solid sheets of material was not practical. As a solution, each lateral “layer” is made up from four mitered strips of either plywood or acrylic.
